KSP visits Kanlungan ni Maria

It's our barkada tradition to hold an outreach event every December of the year. But since we were too busy, our 2012 outreach was moved to January of 2013. It may be late but we won't forget to give back. We've been so blessed the entire year of 2012, and the best way of thanking the Lord for all of His blessings is to share them with those in need.

On January 13, 2013, we visited the grannies who were housed in Kanlungan ni Maria (Home for the Aged) in Antipolo City. For the past years, we've been extending help to the kids and families of Payatas, but this year, we decided to make the old ones happier, most especially those who didn't have families to take care of them. 

A lot of friends contributed in any way they can. The donations we've gathered were used to buy diapers, masks, medicines, and food for the oldies. Vans Philippines and Toby's Sports also donated prizes for the fun games. Other than the members of the barkada, some friends of our friends also joined the outreach. Our friend's aunt also gathered a few doctors to conduct a medical mission.

We had so much fun bonding with the grannies. They're so blessed because a lot of people were helping them. We saw some photos of other outreach events that have been held there. We're so thankful that we were given a chance to help them too.

I'm really looking forward to more blessings this year, and I can't wait to share them to more people who are in need. I'm so proud of my friends who have been very helpful and never selfish.:)

JLo Dance Again World Tour Manila!!!

Sorry if this is a month-late post. I just had to post it.:)

Unlike the other girls, I wasn't really dying to have a ticket to JLo's concert. Despite the fact that I love almost all of her songs, I can say that I wasn't much of a JLo fan...but everything changed when I've seen her perform LIVE!

On the 26th of November, I woke up at around 1pm. I read my messages and one of them was my BFF saying that she got me a free upper box ticket to JLo's concert. I wasn't convinced that much because Mall of Asia Arena was too far from where I live. But since Pam's also coming to join me in the upper box, I got out of bed and fixed myself for the concert.

I wasn't impressed with the front acts, plus I didn't like the fact that the program was "ON and OFF", you know, there's a break after every front act, plus another break before the "real" JLo concert. But the mood was perfectly set when JLo came out with "Get Right", as an opening act. Pam and I were so stunned!

Then on the second song, Dianne told us to meet her as she had spare lower box tickets. So we had lower box tickets but the organizers lent us an All Access Pass that got us in. We proceeded to the Patron VIP section immediately. OH MY GOD, we were just a few inches away from JLo...and that became one of the best nights of my life! I AM NOW OFFICIALLY A JENNIFER LOPEZ FAN!:) What could be better than dancing in a club with JLo singing live as your background?!? Yeah, it wasn't a club, but it felt more like it 'coz we were so crazy partying on a huge dance floor infornt of JLo! haha! You know, rubbing elbows with the IT-girl barkada LOL! Again, this is what you call MAXIMUM FUN WITHOUT A COST! haha!

I also loved the mash-up of all JLo's songs such as "I'm Real", "Jenny from the Block", "Love Don't Cost a Thing", etc. I just wasn't able to upload the video because it's quite long and my laptop and internet joined forces in being slow haha!

And most of all, I love JLo's outfits! They're all sparkling! Everything was just made right for her. It's my dream to be as hot as JLo when I'm 43! (fingers crossed lol)

Hey SEOUL Sisters! (Day 3)

It's our Day 3 (Nov. 17) in Seoul and there's still so much to do. This day, we're off to Petite France and Nami Island, which were both far from downtown. If you were wondering how we manage to navigate around Seoul, we just did some research and we downloaded the "Subway Korea" application for iOS and Android. It's a very useful app as it calculates the fastest routes and the train fares. It even includes the time table of the train trips so you won't miss the train.

From Hongik University Station, it took us about 2 hrs to get to Cheongpyong Station of the ITX line. Well that already included walking through multiple train transfers. Outside the Cheongpyong Station, we took the City Tour Bus, worth 5,000 won each. That would go through several attractions but we only chose the Petite France and the Nami Island. At Petite France, we paid 8,000 won each for entry. Actually, there's nothing much to do inside. We just saw a France-like community, which we were able to appreciate since we couldn't afford yet to go to the real France haha! There's this cool rock band who performed their own version of Oppa Gangnam Style and I liked it! After 20 minutes of going around, we had lunch at a restaurant there. The average rate per plate was around 9,000 won, which was quite pricey.

We missed the bus going to Nami Island. We were just a few minutes late because we were not able to note the time of arrival of the bus written at the brochures given to us. The next bus would arrive after an hour and a half, so we just decided to take a cab. The Nami Island was quite far from Petite France that it cost us around 28,000 won. Yikes! Anyway, Nami Island's entrance starts from the port where the ferry is. That ferry takes the guests to the Nami Island itself, which for marketing purposes they called, Nami Republic. There were lots of tourists of different nationalities there; thus, the long queue at the ticket booth. Admission Fee (5,000 won) and ferry ride (3,000 won) amounted to 8,000 won each. It was just a quick 15-minute ride to get to the island from the mainland. Nami Island has become popular because it was the shooting place of Winter Sonata, one of the most popular Korean dramas. Other than biking and taking photos, there's nothing else to do there. So after 30 minutes, we went back to the mainland.

We waited for the bus to Gapyeong Station of the ITX line and we headed back downtown. We had dinner at a mall in Dongdaemun. I tried their Jjampong and I liked it. Plus we ordered crepes for dessert haha. We shopped a little at the night markets there, then we headed home. But since Dianne and I were a bit bored, we went out for a walk around Hongdae. We discovered a lot of coffee shops, bars/clubs, streetfood stalls, and clothing and accessories shops. We had some spicy chicken skewers and something like a tempura for our streetfood trip. We're not much of risk-takers when it comes to food so we didn't try weird-looking streetfood haha.

After more than an hour of walking around, we went back to the hotel room and met new housemates who were Filipinos too. They were staying inside the room in front of our room. There are three rooms in Pastel's Guesthouse in Prugio Apartment in Hongdae (the building where Nolita is) and the place is really nice. There are a lot of freebies too -- toiletries, hot/cold water, coffee/tea. Plus, our host, Jimmy (owner of the apartment) is also nice for assisting us with directions and other travel concerns. Total spending for the day for 4 pax:
Transportation - 47,000 won (subway and cab for 4pax)
Gapyeong Tour Bus - 20,000 won (5,000 won each)
Lunch - 40,000 won (in Petite France)
Dinner - 36,000 won (plus crepes for dessert)
TOTAL: 143,000 won = Php 5,470 (or approx. Php 1,368/pax)
