bags come unexpected :)

If you'll review my blog entry entitled "home shoppin'", you'll find there that I got two new bags (chain bags in particular) for myself and one pouch (my gift for my bestfriend), unexpectedly. Thanks again to my grandma (father's side) who kept these stuff in a huge suitcase she brought home from Japan. haha! It came in a perfect timing because I haven't bought new bags for a long time already.

And now, I got a new clutch bag unexpectedly. I just went to my grandpa's house (mother's side) for his despedida before he leaves for the US in two days. Then my mom was also there (i'm not living w/ my mom), and she asked me if I like clutches. She said my Tita from the US sent it to her but she didn't like it 'coz it's violet so she's giving it to me instead. Since I love collecting bags, I immediately said yes, no matter what color it is. haha! So she gave me this violet clutch from Axcess, a Liz Claiborne company.

Well it's actually my first time to hear about this brand. When I saw its tag, I didn't like it that much, but when I've read the label inside the bag saying it's also from Liz Claiborne, I became happier because I'm a fan of Liz Claiborne wallets. hehe.=)

Originally I planned to get a new clutch from Code-Limited to make use of my gift certificate worth P500. But now, I'll just get a new pair of sandals instead. (That is if I won't be lazy to go to Rockwell tomorrow...it's my GC's expiration day haha!)

just sharin'...

1. Globe sort of steals my load. I dunno how and why but it happens a lot of times. I'm growing more impatient with it each day. Imagine, there were times wherein I just had loaded, (about 15 or 25) then after two messages, the load was gone! Well I don't load cards or something higher than 50 anymore 'coz I'm scared that Globe will eat them all up. Errr...

2. Makati streets in ultimate flood! My bestfriend and I came out of Cityland in Pasong Tamo beside Waltermart and it was drizzling that time. We walked to her apartment just in McKinley St. somewhere behind Eurotel. That walk was supposed to take us about 5-10 mins only, but it rained so hard while we were already halfway so we had to stop for a few minutes under a condo's parking space. But the rain still didn't stop so we proceeded. When we got to her place, i fixed my stuff and she changed her clothes, which took us just about 15-20 minutes. We were in a hurry because we'll be having a late dinner in Greenbelt. Good thing the rain stopped. But when we looked outside, the place was totally flooded! We tried walking at different streets to find our way out to Pasay Road (the road from Pasong Tamo to Glorietta). OMG! thanks to a pedicab driver who saved us. haha! But when we got to Pasay Road, the sidewalks weren't visible anymore, so we had to step straight to a jeepney's door from inside the pedicab. We were charged 30 but I gave him 40 'coz he's our savior. haha! While traveling along Pasay Road (which was totally flooded too), a Honda Civic from the opposite direction came rushing towards us and SWOOOOSH! It splashed flood water towards the jeepney driver and the two people at his back. It's not just flood water, it was a really smelly flood water! Ewww! And I won't lie that I was the 2nd girl seated from the driver's back. So thanks to the girl beside me for she was showered the most, which meant that I only got some drizzles. haha! So we (including the other passengers) just laughed while we were wiping ourselves dry. haha! Errr Honda's driver was really an asshole. My bestfriend even joked about Mayor Binay's Makati infommercial..."Ganito kami sa Makati...BAHA!" hahaha!=))

3. I just realized I never loved the taste of Teriyaki Boy. Well I love eating Japanese food, but Teriyaki boy is something I have never enjoyed. I have dined there a lot of times already, trying to find it's best dish, but nothing suited my taste. I mean, as compared to other Japanese restos, it's something that didn't stand out for me. I even enjoyed Tokyo Tokyo more. Something's really lacking with Teriyaki Boy's taste...or I just have weird taste buds? haha! I dunno...what do you think? Actually I appreciate their ambiance and staff more that their food. hehe.=P

4. I'm now seeing the future of our new bag business. More prospective clients come our way each passing day...plus more bags being ordered and produced. This is really exciting. I'll post here the details of our soft launch, big launch, and the online shop soon. You better wait for it.=)

5. My previous boss is a good career adviser. I really appreciate how much he's trying to help me. He's already like a second father to me (well besides having the same age as my real dad) 'coz he's always there whenever I feel like consulting me. He also never fails to inform me of good opportunities I might be interested in. Wow, really cool.

home shoppin' :)

yeah, you've read it right...
not home TV shoppin', but home shoppin' haha!
wanna know why?

my grandma called me to her room 2 days ago and i saw her sitting in front of a huge suitcase with lots of boxes inside. then i found out it contained a lot of stuff they bought from Japan during their trip (w/ aunts & cousins) just last summer. haha well my grandma is very much known as someone who keeps newly bought stuff and just brings them out after a few months of buying them. haha!

so she showed me all the stuff and told me to get what i want...then i ended up with these:

chain bag with a round furry body

red glittery clutch w/ short chain strap

a pair of mini hankies

baby heart perfume

pocket mirror

purse with hanky (my gift for my bestfriend's birthday)

...and i got all of these for FREE! hahaha! thanks a lot to my grandma, and to my cousin who personally chose some of these stuff for she knew what my taste was like. hehe!

'til my next home shoppin' haha!=P

1st ever Us Girls August Awards

When it comes to beauty, wellness, and fashion, the Us Girls TV show at Studio 23 is very reliable. The show tackles a lot of topics that are very relevant for the girls. Its hosts Iya Villania, Angel Aquino, and Megan Young (temporarily substituted Cheska Garcia-Kramer who had just given birth), are all really talented and reliable. I like the way they influence their audience when it comes to beauty, style, fashion, and in a lot more aspects in life.

Just last August 20, Thursday, the Us Girls had their very first August Awards. It's called that way because August didn't just mean the 8th month of the year, but it's also an adjective meaning inspiring, majestic, something high-ranking, or grandeur. So, in this event, Us Girls awarded several personalities who were recognized for their great contributions in fashion and beauty.

Some awards included Makeup Artists of the Year, Stylists of the Year, Most Fashionable Women, Faces of the Year, and the Us Girls Icon of the year. For each category, the top 4 nominees who got the most votes (via Multiply) were awarded, except of course for the Icon of the year, because it was someone who embodied Us Girls' idea of a modern Filipina.

Cheska (Us Girls host too) with Anne Curtis and Iya

Kim Chui wasn't able to come but a VTR of her message was shown on the big screen.

The event went on and off because of the rain pouring once in a while. But the guests all stayed and finished the event. There were also performances from Ballet Philippines, De La Salle University Innersoul, Ronnie Liang, and Princess. A fashion show by three designers: Tippi Ocampo, Charina Sarte, and Reian Mata was also done.

Besides the nice performances and awards, guests were served yummy food and beverages during the show. Some of these were: buffet catered by MICAH (culinary school), and alcoholic drinks from Shooters, Sober Club, and The Bar. BlowUp Babies also had a booth there where the guests had some souvenir photos taken.

I was actually there as one of the usherettes of the event, with four of my co-models too. We were the ones who used to get featured at several Us Girls segments and we've already become friends with their staff that's why we got into this event.

Other sponsors which benefited us as models were: Binalot & Magnolia Fruit Drink (lunch), Waffle Time (snacks), Code-Limited (gift certificate), Zen Zest (cologne), Loreal, (shampoo & sun block), Piandre Salon (our hair, plus some mini bottled shampoos from Kerastase), and Shu Uemura (our makeup).

The entire event was really fun. It's been an exciting experience 'coz I met a lot of popular personalities, I gained new friends, and I had a lot of photos! hahaha!=))

Catch the airing of the 1st ever US Girls August Awards on AUGUST 30, Saturday, 7pm at Studio 23!

1st Pinoy Video Channel Online

It was launched last 2nd of July. I was invited but I wasn't able to make it at the party for some reason.

So, why Flippish?

flippish \fli’-psh\ adj [fr. Filipino]
1. anything that has Filipino flavor
2. fickle minded or indecisive
3. odd, crazy or weird.

What's nice about this is that, the shows are produced just like how you see some other shows on TV. It's just that, here, you can watch it over and over again. It's like regular shows that you get to watch on TV every week because new episodes of the shows here are released every week. It definitely has a nice team--producers, talents, directors, etc.

I don't get to watch much from this channel, but as far as I have watched some of its shows, I would say that my most favorite is the "Girl Next Door" by Chrina. It is very helpful for girls in dealing with fashion, beauty, wellness, and other similar matters. I really enjoy the topics it tackles plus its episodes don't bore me 'coz they just take about 3 to 5 minutes of my time. Girls, I suggest you watch it too.

Try also "Corny"...I swear, it's not funny, it's really corny haha! But I'm not saying that I like the show. Just try it and see for yourself whether it would make you laugh. haha!=))

But anyway, let's just support this Filipino endeavor. Keep watchin'.=)

on pursuing a new dream...

When I was in pre-school I wanted to be a teacher. When I was in High School, I wanted to be a lawyer. When I was in college, I wanted to be a diplomat or a businesswoman. But after graduation, I just wanted to build a stable career that would give me a sense of fulfillment and that would earn me enough savings before getting married on my late 20's.

I've been hunting jobs since late June. Most of the jobs I've been trying to get into are actually inclined in Advertising, Marketing, Business Development, and PR/Communications; because I believe that this is where I'm good at. So I've already attended a couple of interviews and I've also turned down offers from several companies since I didn't want to choose a job that I won't enjoy, whether it's paying good or not. Then I came across the ads of Cebu Pacific about their recruitment campaign every Wednesdays of June and July. I always planned to attend but it always had a conflict with other job interviews. Yeah, I prioritized the other jobs; not realizing that my plans would change.

It was just last week when a guy friend of mine convinced me to pursue being a flight attendant. I can't remember how the conversation (via YM) started but it had something to do with 'me still unemployed now aka bum'. Well not totally 'coz I do modeling jobs at times and he's also supportive when it comes to that, but what made him convince me was his mom being a flight attendant at Cathay Pacific for 16 years. He explained to me that I deserve such a glamorous job (oh yeah, not glamorous in duties/work, but in perks haha). And then I remembered my relatives from my mother's side used to convince me also since a cousin of my mom is a PAL FA. And another flashback was just last summer when I was with my Iloilo friend in Boracay who told me to email my resume to her FA friend in Oman Air 'coz they've got openings that time.

Right after all the flashbacks, plus my conversation with my guy friend, another guy friend talked to me (via YM) and I mentioned about my confusion. He then told me the story of his ex-gf who got rejected by PAL, Cebu Pacific, JAL, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, but eventually got accepted by Emirates through IPAMS! I was inspired by his story, plus the support he's giving me. So after all the inspirations, I searched for IPAMS' website and immediately found their advertisement on the upcoming Open Day Screening by Qatar Airways at the IPAMS Extension Office in New Manila. Then I consulted this with my grandma and uncle and they pushed me to do it so I called up my bestfriend and convinced her too to come with me. She actually didn't wanna try anymore 'coz she got rejected before by Oman Air, but I said, she must not give up her dreams, just like me.

It was already late when I learned about the Air Asia opening but I tried to catch it. I planned to come in their last day (last Friday), which meant that I had to wake up at 6am to arrive there by 8am. Unfortunately, my insomnia didn't allow me to have enough sleep so I woke up at 10am, and when I called the agency, they told me I can't catch it anymore 'coz the finals batch was already taking the exam at the time I was calling. So I said to myself, ok it wasn't for me.

But the Qatar Airways was still my priority. So I woke up early on the screening day and we arrived at 7:30am, only to find out that there were already 300 girls ahead us, and at 9am, there were already 400 girls behind us. I was shocked to see that a lot of girls wanted the same job that I want. Yay! I almost lost hope after seeing everyone, so pretty in their corporate outfits. My bestfriend and I we're done by 10:30am. We just passed our photos and resume to one of the three evaluators, and we were just asked a few questions such as "How are you? How old are you? Is this your number?"; and after that, "We will just call you." So it really left me puzzled on what could be their basis in choosing those who will be shortlisted.

We didn't expect to get a call anymore, but somehow we were hopeful. Anyway, we just had a buffet lunch at Guilly's in Glorietta 5, and we took a nap at my bestfriend's apartment. Then we had a meeting with our client somewhere in Mall of Asia, and a business meeting in Blue Wave.

The whole day was tiring yet really fun. On my way home, I had been praying to receive a call from IPAMS...and at about half past 6pm, i received the magic call! Unfortunately my bestfriend didn't but I told her she must not give up. But what I really appreciated most from her was her support. Also, my grandma was so glad to hear the news, as well as my friends who pushed me to apply. haha!

Come the second day of screening or the assessment. I belonged to the PM batch. We were supposed to be 39 but 1 girl wasn't able to come. So we got oriented about Qatar and the lifestyle of a QR Cabin Crew. We also had a reach test, English exam, and group discussions. And basically, the evaluators (who used to be QR FAs) just observed our actions, body languages, and our total package. Unfortunately, at the end of the day, not all names got called to advance in the final interview....and I was one of them.

Well, it was sad, yet not enough reason to lose hope. I've reached that stage during my 1st time of application in any airline and to think that there were more than a thousand who came there on the 1st day and I got shortlisted for the 2nd day was more than enough blessing. It even took about 4 times of application for others to reach that same stage, so I'm somehow luckier. There are still a lot of airlines out there. Just like the other, I'll keep on trying.

There is no way to give up when it comes to our dreams. Our own success is always worth fighting for.=)
