1st Philippine Popular Music Festival

It was the birthday of the Philippines' Top CEO, Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) last July 14th. And one of the celebrations for his birthday (which was initiated by Maynilad and Smart, together with other MVP Group companies) was the Finals Night of the 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival (Philpop), which is a song writing competition of both amateur and professional Filipino songwriters. This competition aims to revive the Philippine music industry and be a channel for Filipino songwriters to create new OPM songs that would capture the Filipino listeners.

This project started around March and the search happened from April to June. From over 3000 song entries, Top 14 songs were chosen. These were promoted to the public who were encouraged to vote for their favorite entries. Here are the Top14 songs:

As an intermission, the best singers of the country performed the different songs composed by the country's best composers.

While the judges were tallying their votes, more singers performed a number featuring the songs from Metropop festival in the past years. Truly OPM!

And there came the awarding...

 Smart People's Choice: "Brown"

 2nd Runner-Up: "Kontrabida"

1st Runner: "Tayo-Tayo Lang"

 Grand Winner: "Bawat Hakbang" --> 1 Million Pesos!

The program was aired on a delayed telecast via TV5. Anyway, after the program, there were light meals and drinks served at the 2nd floor of the PICC.

2-2: A Tough One!

So I missed 2 games of the Finals. One was last August 10 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte where Talk N Text won over  the Petron Blaze Boosters. Another game I missed was last August 12 at the Big Dome, wherein Talk N Text won over Petron 132-105! I couldn't skip class 'coz I got a group report.

I didn't wanna watch last August 14, but a friend of mine forced me to...so I did. But I was happy because I was able to witness the Leo Awards wherein the top players of the conference were awarded. I am ok with the result of the awards, but my most favorite was the MVP Award received by Jimmy Alapag of TNT! He really deserved it. He's a good man and he's a role model not just for his teammates, but for all the other basketball players too. Congratulations to the awardees!

However, TNT lost to Petron as the game ended105-83. This just showed how tough the succeeding games will be. Both teams really want that championship! Now it's 2-2. It's not easy to tell who will dominate. But TNT gotta win grand slam, so please help us Lord!:)

MVP Bossing Award is Back!

It was in October last year when we attended the MVP Bossing Award of the PLDT SME Nation in the NBC Tent. A couple of entrepreneurs got recognized for the success of their businesses. These entrepreneurs were nominated per category, and the winners were urevealed after the 3-month search.

Now is another year to find the MVP Bossing Awardees. Last 31st of July, the nominations for the next Bossings were opened. This was launched through the Bossing Banquet held in Kasalikasan Gardens in Bonifacio Global City. The rain didn't stop the Bossings from taking part in the event. I was there with my bosses; and I enjoyed the program and the food.
