It's a small world after all

It was a long weekend last Aug18-21, but before going out of town, I spent my Friday night first in Prive. My flight the next day was at 5:30am so I decided not to sleep anymore and just spend the night in Prive. A guy friend of mine invited me a couple of days before that because he said he's gonna hang there with his friends.

So that Friday night, I went to his condo and met his guy friend (he met in college days in Davao) who's a doctor. The three of us went to Prive and while in the car I was asking who else was coming. My friend was kinda teasing his friend about the girl whom he invited because the girl has not replied yet whether she's on her way or not. Then I was like, "You know, girls need a followup. Ask her now if she's coming 'coz we're already here." So there I kinda coached him on what to do.

Then while the three of us were getting drinks in the club, my guy friend told his friend, "It's okay if you'll have to drive the girl home after the party 'cause we can just take a cab." Then the guy said, "No, _(insert girl's first name here)_ got a car 'coz she's a med rep." And I was like, "Excuse me, what's the last name of the girl? I think I know her." Well I only know 2 people with that first name and one was them was a med rep. Then the guy answered, "No, I don't think you know her." But I said, "I think I know her. What's her last name?" Then the guy said her last name and I was like, "WTF! Are u serious? She's my friend! I was just with her last night! So funny because I was the one coaching you earlier on what to do or say to her to make her come here."

So my friend arrived and was surprised that I was with those guys. But we ended up so happy because it's actually the first time we got to party together. I really had a great time, without getting over that funny discovery throughout the night. Yeah, it was indeed a small world! Or maybe, I just have a lot of friends too haha!

Btw, I just like Prive because it's not as crowded as other clubs plus it plays good music. I also love their Amaretto Sour!:) Well, drinks may be a bit pricey but that actually filters the crowd. I enjoy their Incognito Fridays, but I think you gotta try Stiletto Wednesdays too. Open bar 'til midnight!:)

Overdue Post: Mutya ng Pilipinas

This is a super late post but I just feel like sharing some photos. This happened last AUgust 12 at the UP Theater.

Congratulations to the winners:

Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia Pacific: #29 Camille Guevara (who got a lot of special awards also and she seemed to be the judges' favorite, even if she didn't answer perfectly in the Q&A)

Mutya ng Pilipinas Tourism International: #25 Rizzini Alexis Gomez (who had the best answer in the Q&A but I guess she didn't win as the grand winner because she's good in answering tourism-related questions, thus her title)

Mutya ng Pilipinas Overseas: #10 Maribee Tiburcio

1st Runner Up: #24 Emma Tiglao

2nd Runner Up: #28 Larah Grace Lacap

The show was hosted by Kristine Caballero, Markki Stroem, and Maggie Wilson-Consunji.

The official tabulator was Reyes Tacandong & Co. (RT&Co). Plus a long list of judges.

Anyway, what I loved about the show were:

 Maggie Wilson's outfit (www.haute-affair.com)

Markki Stroem and his own version of "Call Me Maybe"

The super fabulous Ternos of the Top10

What went a bit off were:
  • The Japanese interpreter who wasn't able to deliver well the answer of the overseas half-Japanese contestant. Actually I've heard she speaks fluent Tagalog, but opted to get a translator to translate Japanese to English. Unfortunately, they both kinda messed up. Good thing, I can actually understand Japanese.
  • No teleprompter so I can feel the struggle of the hosts.
  • Funny Q&A with the Top10. Honestly, I didn't know if they were that nervous that they forgot everything in the world that could make sense, except the overused words and phrases: "hospitable", "natural resources", and "it's more fun in the Philippines" hahaha!
  • At the end, after the announcement of the grand winner, she was awarded with everything -- sash, bouquet of flowers, certificate...except the crown! They already posed for photo ops, the hosts said goodbye, and the confetti were all over; until Mama Rene Salud came running to the backstage screaming for "where's the crown?!?" That was so epic! So funny seeing the blank faces of people haha! Until last year's Mutya ng Pilipinas went out from the backstage with the crown, which she passed on to the new winner. I think she got lost 'cause maybe she was waiting for her cue, which was forgotten by the hosts. Haha but well, it already happened. Every show has its own share of misfortune.
But I had fun. Thanks to RT&Co. for inviting me. We got really nice seats:)

Thanks also to Mags for giving me and my friend a VIP Card very randomly while we were standing while chatting somewhere near the stage. I hope to shop there soon!:)

Bakit UP?

I just want to share the video presented at the UP Freshmen Orientation for the Academic Year 2012-2013. This video really got me nostalgic. I really miss my college days!

I've been a UP student since high school. After my spending my pre-school and grade school days in a Catholic school, I applied and passed the entrance exam at the UP Integrated School in 2000. Then I went to college in the Diliman campus at 2004. I spent my first two years in college at the UP School of Economics, taking up BS Business Economics but decided to shift to the National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) where I took up BA in Public Administration, and graduated in 2009. Still not done studying, I enrolled Master in Technology Management a the UP Technology Management Center last year (2011), and I am expecting to graduate by next year (2013).

So imagine, how much UP has shaped me. It has greatly influenced my knowledge, skills, practices, and attitude. There's always that someone in me who wishes to be lined up with the best people of the different fields (in and out the country), just like those who were in the video. I will always be thankful and proud of my Alma Mater.

Simpler blog site design :)

So I decided to give my blog site a simpler look...without giving up my favorite color!:))

I did not remove the gray-colored side bar because it adds a little dimension on my page. I actually wanted to make it white/transparent but i found it too plain. I also changed my header with my blog title on "I'm fashionista" font, which I downloaded from dafont.com.  I wish I could come up with my own logo but i'm no good with vectors in Photoshop. But so far, my official color scheme is "white-pink-gray-black". And I hope to change my outdated favicon (the icon/logo on the tab) soon.

Let me know your thoughts.

Lunch by Albergus Catering

I've never been familiar with Albergus Catering until I met a classmate from graduate school who works there, doing R&D. She introduced us to the long list of sumptuous dishes that their company has.

And since she has "special rates" as an employee, we can have Albergus-catered lunch every Saturday in school. We only pay Php 100 each for a set of meals for 12 pax. The menu that we get is usually, "steamed rice + main course (meat & veggies) or 1 main course (meat) and sidedish (veggies) + bottled water + utensils". Trust me, everything just tasted so good!:)

So far, we've already had these dishes:
1. Hainanse Chicken
2. Ox Tail Karekare
3. Chicken Supreme w/ Ham & Cheese
4. Pork Sisig and Open Fresh Lumpia

I just love them all! This Albergus lunch tradition is what I actually look forward to every Saturday. Whenever I think of our yummy lunch, I never get lazy to go to class haha!:))

For more about Albergus Catering, you may check their website:

Here are some of our lunch photos in school. Btw, yeah, we eat at the lobby 'coz our lounge is always full haha!

Pacha Ibiza in Republiq

More than being the oldest club in Ibiza, "Pacha Ibiza" has been the most dominant clubbing brand in the world. It has become a lifestyle brand that continues to grow through franchises around the world. You may read this page for more info.

So last 28th of July, Pacha Ibiza was brought by PLDT Wifi Zone to Republiq Club in Resorts Word Manila. It was a fun, crazy party night from midnight til dawn!

We got free Pacha Ibiza CDs and free flowing alcohol from my PLDT friends. How cool is that?!? This night defined PARTY!:)

 w/ my travel buddies

 confetti!!!

 BFFs on the ledge!:)

w/ my former colleagues in Smart

 freebie!:)

I'm a DOVE Girl and I love it!

Just like what the other girls say on every Dove Hair Care TVC, I must say I really love how Dove takes care of my hair too!

I've been using Dove hair care (shampoo, conditioner, and treatment) since February 2012,  and since then, I haven't switched to another brand. This is because I've been satisfied with how Dove manages my hair. I'm a big fan of Dove soap before so when they launched a hair care line, I automatically switched from my old brand.

Then after a month of using the product, I met a friend who works for Unilever and  he offered me free supplies of Dove Hair Care products. Last March, I got both the Pink and Blue lines, which my BFF and I shared with each other. But just last July, I got the Gold line. Actually I couldn't distinguish the difference of each of the color lines but I just love them all haha!

I use Dove shampoo every other day so not to dry my hair. I use Dove conditioner everyday to keep my hair soft and more manageable. And I use the Dove  treatment/therapy once a week. Actually I want to try the "weekend treatment system" (a 3-pc treatment set) but my friend forgot to include it in the package he gave me; but he promised to include it next time! Yey, so excited!:))

Give it a try girls! Be a Dove girl!:)

1st Philippine Popular Music Festival

It was the birthday of the Philippines' Top CEO, Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) last July 14th. And one of the celebrations for his birthday (which was initiated by Maynilad and Smart, together with other MVP Group companies) was the Finals Night of the 1st Philippine Popular Music Festival (Philpop), which is a song writing competition of both amateur and professional Filipino songwriters. This competition aims to revive the Philippine music industry and be a channel for Filipino songwriters to create new OPM songs that would capture the Filipino listeners.

This project started around March and the search happened from April to June. From over 3000 song entries, Top 14 songs were chosen. These were promoted to the public who were encouraged to vote for their favorite entries. Here are the Top14 songs:

Here are some photos during the event:

 nice stage set-up

 Ogie Alcasid's opening number

Ogie and the Ryan Cayabyab Singers (RCS)

Hosts: Nikki Gil and Ogie Alcasid

 "Negastar"

"Slow dancing" performed by Nyoy Volante --> one of my faves!

"Bawat Hakbang" composed by Mark Villaluz of The Akafellas...

...also performed by the group with Mark Bautista! --> nice song!;)

 "Kesa"

And another song entitled, "Takuza' performed by Rocksteddy, which I wasn't able to take a photo of because it was a quick song haha!

As an intermission, the best singers of the country performed the different songs composed by the country's best composers.

"Big Time" performed by Baihana (the one wearing pink is my friend Anna)

"Brown" performed by Brownman revival and the composer

 "Piso" performed by Joey Ayala

While the judges were tallying their votes, more singers performed a number featuring the songs from Metropop festival in the past years. Truly OPM!

And there came the awarding...

 Smart People's Choice: "Brown"

1st Runner: "Tayo-Tayo Lang"

Grand Winner: "Bawat Hakbang" --> 1 Million Pesos!

The Akafellas perfomed their winning piece for the finale

The program was aired on a delayed telecast via TV5. Anyway, after the program, there were light meals and drinks served at the 2nd floor of the PICC.

Ely Buendia didn't smile so I looked like a fan girl LOL!

w/ my BFF Dianne and Ana from DDB Philippines

We sang the "Happy Birthday" song to the birthday boy, MVP

a photo w/ the grand winner

and lastly, a photo with the birthday boss!:)

It was a great night of music! Grab a copy of the Philpop compilation album at any record bar for only Php 300. Let's support our own music!

Just like what they say, "Thank you MVP, OPM is alive!" :)
