A Book to Inspire Leaders

Two days before Christmas, I got a gift from my boss. I opened it and saw that it was a sealed little book. But since I was too busy, I wasn't even able to take a peek of what's inside.

It was only yesterday that I opened the book and saw that it's filled with very inspiring quotes about leadership, and other quotes that are closely related to it.

The quotes are classified into several categories:
1. What is Leadership?
2. Character of a Leader
3. Keeping up with the Vision

4. Dreams, Plans, Goals.
5. The Leadership Challenge

6. The Winning Attitude
7. Leadership Influence
8. Success in Leadership
9. The Leader and His Family
10. The Leader and His God

And I was surprised that towards the end of our company's Strategy Planning Conference at The Peninsula Manila today, a great part of the closing remarks of our company President was sharing to us the quotes about the character of a leader. He was given the same book by my boss, which he brought to our conference. It was really inspiring for us, (the company's management committee) most especially when we realized how much he believes in us and how much he see us as leaders who will transform the company into a bigger and better one for 2010.

So, if you're stressed because of work, or pressured because of your responsibilities, this is a nice book to keep you in the mood and keep you aligned with your goals.

This was one of the best Christmas gifts I have received this year.=)

Now Playing: Love is Waiting

Thanks to a friend of mine for giving me a theme song about my current situation. haha!

Oh, and how ironic could it get? Seems like I share the same story with Chuck and Blair. OMFG, please, get me out of this if it's not something I really wished for.

"LOVE IS WAITING" by Brooke Fraser

In the autumn on the ground, between the traffic and the traffic and the ordinary sounds
I am thinking signs and seasons while a north wind blows through
i watch as lovers pass me by
Walking stories - whos and hows and whys
Musing lazily on love
Pondering you
I'll give it time, give it space and be still for a spell
When it's time to walk that way we wana walk it well

[CHORUS]
I'll be waiting for you baby
I'll be holding back the darkest night
Love is waiting til we're ready, til it's right
Love is waiting

It's my caution not the cold
there's no other hand that i would rather hold
the climate changes, im singing for the strangers about you
dont keep time, slow the pace
Honey hold on if you can
the bets are getting surer now that you're my man

[CHORUS]

[BRIDGE]
I could right a million songs about the way you say my name
I could live a lifetime with you and then do it all again
and like I can't force the sun to rise or hasten summer's start,
neither should I rush my way into your heart

It's the Thought that Counts

I am really enjoying the holidays now. Well besides being able to get a lot of sleep, I also get to eat a lot of sumptuous dishes!=)

I also appreciate the fact that I am employed during this season. I got a lot of gifts from my officemates and other people I have met through work. It was also my first time to attend a company Christmas party. It was indeed a very rewarding experience. And by the way, I just won P2000-worth of Gift Certificates at Dickies Concept Shop.

My family wasn't complete but it didn't stop us from enjoying the holidays. We still pushed through with our traditional Christmas games facilitated by our grandmother. It was really fun because it felt like we're all kids. haha!

After our Christmas party at home, we went to the Perya and Tiangge at Marikina Riverpark. I met up with my friend there and we played around. haha! We tried a lot of games, my most fave was the Color Game. Well I didn't actually win but I didn't lose as well. Haha I lost at first but I got it back after a few games.=P

Of course, Christmas won't stop me from leaving the house to visit some friends. Imagine, I had 4 Noche Buenas: at home, and at the houses of my three other friends haha! I just love to eat!=P

And what made my Christmas really special was seeing one of my wishes come true. I almost lost hope since I wished for it last New Year's Eve, and this year's already about to end now. But I never expected that God will give it to me on Christmas Day! I was really thankful and happy! weee!!!=)

Bye Bye Brittany...

It's so sad that she had to die at the age of 32. I was really surprised hearing the news that she already passed away last Dec. 20 (Sunday) morning. Though it's already been two days since she died, the Coroner who conducted the autopsy still defers releasing the cause of her death since some toxicology tests still have to be completed. Godo thing, there was no evidence of trauma in her body. It's just that a few days before her death, she's been suffering from flu-like symptoms; until she fainted in her bathroom.

Oh my, it's indeed a sad story. She's a very good actress that's why I loved most of her movies. I have watched a lot of her movies already, most especially the romantic comedies. My top faves were Just Married and Uptown Girls. She has already done a lot of movies and a lot more were in line. Unfortunately, she's already gone.

Life is indeed so short. We'll never know when it would be taken away from us. So I think, we should just live life to the fullest. Let's make every single day the best day of our lives. Let's dream and work hard to achieve our dreams. When we die, it's not what we have or how much wealth we have that would be counted, but how much honor and respect we have achieved and how much many lives we have touched.

The NEW Beer Tower!

Check this out.

Isn't it cute? =P

This is the new beer tower in Gerry's Grill at Greenhills. Well I haven't checked out its other branches yet to see if they're using the same thing.

According to the waiter, it contains about 8-10 bottles of beer. The center tube inside is where the ice cubes are placed to keep the beer cold.

Drink up!=)

Why is it Best to Work at GOOGLE?

My officemate shared to me this Youtube video featuring Google as the best place to work in the world. Yeah, we watched it while we were in the office. Haha.

Well...I found this video really interesting. Hmmm...makes me wanna transfer.=P

Stressed? Give Yourself a Boracay Break!

Bye Iloilo and Hello Boracay! This was the real vacation honey!=P

We planned to do Flyfish and Island hopping but we just can't get over our fear of water haha! Well if you don't know how to swim just like us, you wouldn't even bother.

Best part of the trip was our first time to Ride the Zorb! It's a huge inflated ball with 2 pails of water inside, plus the three of us...all rolling down the hill. It cost us P300 each for a group of 3. P350 for duo and P580 for a single rider. The trip up the hill was so tiring but it was worth the 20-sec roll. haha!=)) Watch our video!

We were very much conscious 'bout our skin color that we only swim during sunsets. haha! We loved watching the sunset while swimming, playing in the
sand, and walking along the beach.

We missed our skimboard lessons since we got up late due to last night's party. We played in the sand, had Jonah's Fruitshakes and isaw instead.

Guilly's was almost the same as last summer except that its DJ's booth was moved to the side, and its party people were mostly locals who were the ones selling pearls, offering massage, and offering watersport activities at daytime. Oh, who says they have no right to party? hahaha!=))

Juice Bar was the best for me now. Well minus the crazy foreigners there of course. But I loved their fun bartenders, who were very generous in putting cherries in our Vodka-Sprite. haha!

Oh and we met new friends from Davao and Singapore, which became our ticket to experiencing Fairways and Blue Waters. We swam at the back beach and the infinity pools. And oh, they got really nice rooms.

What is Boracay without Seafood Buffet?! OMG...we had it twice and it was awesome!

Another fun part of our Boracay trip was the ultimate shopping experience at the Mango outlet store! Too bad, i was on a budget so I wasn't able to get this Mango suit I really loved. But still, 2 tank tops and a dress weren't that bad. It only cost me P2000.=) One of my friends got 4 dresses for P4000 only. Wow!

After our tiring shopping, a Chocolate shake from Paraiso Bar didn't let us down.=)

ULTIMATELY FUN EXPERIENCE!=)

Don't Trust the Special Holidays Much! =P

The time that Nov.27-28 were declared holidays, my friends and i immediately booked a ticket to Iloilo so we could visit our friends and head to Boracay after...not knowing that the declaration would be reverted. Argh. So we filed those days as a leave of absence instead.

We flew via Cebu Pacific. Unfortunately our flight got delayed. They got a nice airport in Iloilo. Unfortunately we weren't able to take photos 'coz were already starving.

That's SM Iloilo. Went here right after visiting Guimaras 'coz we realized we can't survive a day without seeing buildings. hahaha!=))

Oh and that's the very stressful Guimaras. Trust me, this photo can't tell how awful our experience there was. It's just so weird that people there didn't know how to treat their tourists well. No wonder, until now, its tourism wasn't as great as that of other islands.

Well if not only because of their World's Sweetest Mangoes and the oil spill years ago, they won't get that semi-popularity. We didn't even had a chance to taste the fruit itself, we just had a shake. haha! Oh, not to mention, we had a very tasty seafood lunch too.=)

Boracay experience needs a separate blog entry haha!=P

Busy Girl

Oh yes, and this is the reason why I wasn't able to blog much last month.

Hello, how about working on a project *sort of* individually that's supposed to be done by a team. yes, a production team. Oh well, at least now it's over.

Thank God I survived and pulled it off last Nov.12-15.=)

This was our company's booth in the Philconstruct 2009 event at SMX Convention Center.

Production Time: 2 weeks! Waaah! Good thing I was a trained crammer haha!=))

Golden Water :))

I went to Krispy Kreme yesterday night to wait for my friend before we grab some dinner. If not of the free wifi and a little craving for honey glazed doghnuts, I won't be staying there while waiting.

So I ordered two honey glazed doughnuts, then the cashier asked me if I'm getting coffee but I said no 'coz I'm not really much of a coffee drinker. So I said I'll just have water. Well I was assuming service water, but the cashier pointed me the open fridge beside the counter wherein all the drinks were displayed. She told me to just get water from there. So my choices were a medium-sized Viva mineral water or a small Evian mineral water.

I chose the smaller one since I can't drink a lot of water. Then I was shocked that my total bill amounted to Php 117. When I was back to my seat, I checked the receipt and it stated that my water costed me Php 55. Yikes, exactly the same price of a small cup of coffee.

So it's expensive 'coz it's an imported one. Yikes, I think the local one is cheaper even if it's bigger in size. But it's weird, I wasn't even able to finish up the content of this little bottle so I didn't order a drink during dinner anymore 'coz I brought this water with me. haha!

Look at what Wikipedia shared about Evian mineral water:

"In popular culture, Evian is portrayed as a high-end and pricey bottled water, making it popular among Hollywood celebrities. David LaChapelle photographed an Evian campaign juxtaposing a supermodel next to an Evian fountain formed from a Greek statue, film actor Sebastian Siegel painted to look like stone by Joanne Gair."

Now I know...it's the celebrity feeling! hahaha! whatever!=))

Registered Voter!

I'm so sorry that I felt the need to blog about this. I am just pissed with the very "bulok" system of the voters' registration at Comelec.

So I arrived at Marikina Comelec at exactly 6am and there was already a very long line ahead of me. This was on the 30th of October, the 2nd to the last day of registration. By 8am, the registration started. Someone was on the mic orienting the people about the process. It took about 30 mins., and I think they should have done that even before 8am!

STEP 1: Get your application form. So we were given numbers. My number was 303. Hello, even the line wasn't that organized at all. There were two men giving out forms after checking our requirements. Those aged 17-20 were immediately given forms. But in my case, after submitting my requirements at 10am, I had to wait for my form after verification of my identity. What I submitted was a photocopy of my driver's license. Then it's also a requirement to write the ff. details on the same paper: Full Name, New/Transferee (w/ new address), Age, Birthday, Status, and Signature.

STEP 2: Verification. So they screened my requirements carefully and it took about 2 hrs for them to do that. I had to stand at the waiting are for 1 1/2 hrs, and sit on a table for 30mins (thanks to the old men who offered me a seat). My name got called a few minutes before 12nn so I immediately accomplished the form.

STEP 3: Submission of Application Form. Imagine, I had to line up all over again just to submit my accomplished form. So what I did was I went in line even if I haven't written anything in my form yet. then I asked the woman ahead of me to save that spot for me while I accomplish my forms. So I went to a table near a huge sample form so I won't miss any detail because I've heard that once you miss any detail, you will have to fall in line again. yay! I was able to submit my form a few minutes after 12nn then I was told to come back by 6-9pm. The person-in-charge said that I must go straight to Biometrics (Step 5) when I come back. Wow, sounded good to me 'coz it woudl make me skip Step 4. haha!

STEP 4: Assigning of Precinct. Since I was asked to come back by 6-9pm for Biometrics, I didn't undergo this step anymore. I think they were the ones who automatically worked on this. I think, most of those required to undergo this step were the transferees.

Since I got a minimum of 6 hours of waiting time before the Biometrics stage, I went home for lunch and for some rest. But then I decided to watch a movie instead with a friend in Gateway. We're supposed to meet at 3pm but due to heavy traffic (caused by cemeteries along the way), I arrived at Gateway at 4:30pm. I bought tickets while my friend was stucked in the middle of EDSA traffic. The movie started at 4:50 but my friend came a few minutes past 5. She actually didn't miss a lot in the movie. Oh yeah, we actually watched "500 days of Summer" haha! It was done by 6:30pm so we had some dinner until 7:15.

Then we went back to Comelec. We took the LRT up to Katipunan, but there were no rides available going to Marikina because of the heavy rain. We took an alternate route and at last, we arrived at Comelec by 8pm.

STEP 5: Biometrics. I mean, STEP 4 1/2: Line up to get your form back (NOT A REAL PART OF THE ENTIRE PROCESS, JUST A STUPID PRACTICE!). There were still a lot of people there! And when I told the person-in-charge there that I was aksed to come back between 6-9pm for my Biometrics, he told me to line up. What the F? And this line was actually for those who needed to get their forms back so they could line up to Step 5. Okay, what was my stand on this? THIS WAS THE WORST PART OF THE DAY EVER!!!!

1. A lot of people have taken over my spot already! They were the ones who came later than I did in the morning, yet they finished ahead of me 'coz they stayed there the whole afternoon. Well i wasn't that sure if they were also instructed to just come back at 6-9pm. But hello, I just followed instructions!
2. So I lined up in that line leading to a table where all pending application forms were situated. I know I already missed a couple of times that my name was called because I wasn't there so they just set my form aside. BUT THE LINE WAS SO LONG AND IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE! I think it would be better if they would just call out loud each and every name whose form was there to avoid making long lines. Imagine I lined up then when it was already my turn, they searched for my form among the piles of forms with them. Didn't they know how long that kind of process would take for each and every person in line? When instead, they can call us through the mic. Well, they actually have thought about that right after I got my form. Maybe, it was I who influenced them to do that. I was so pissed!

STEP 5: Biometrics (THIS IS IT!). So there, I was in line by 9pm. It was a very long line....a very disorganized line, which only got organized after an hour when an old man took in charge. My
friend left me 'coz she had to go somewhere else. I was there all alone, listening to my Ipod. But to avoid boredom, I took out my makeup kit and fixed myself in preparation for a fun Friday night out. haha! Well, the line moved a bit faster than earlier. Maybe those in charge of the Biometrics were all excited to go home already haha! At 11pm, it was already my turn: signature, thumb marks, and picture. Well, I wasn't that pretty in my picture but never mind, I was in a hurry to go for a fun night. haha! Then I was given an acknowledgment receipt with my registration number on it. Imagine how long it took me to get that piece of paper! Yikes!

Finally...I am now officially a registered voter of the Republic of the Philippines! I won't ever forget this experience. 6am to 11pm is no joke, hello?!? Gosh, the steps we take just to be responsible citizens of this country. hahaha!=))

Salon Sunday

I know, this must should've come first than my previous post. haha! Sorry, just wanna do some sharing...=)

My best friend and I went all the way from Bulacan and Marikina to Sangandaan in Novaliches to visit this salon recommended to me by an officemate. It's a new salon so it has great promos that would attract loyal customers.

The salon was named Heaven's. Color scheme: Pink and Green. It has lots of employees and services...oh, and customers! It looked like a chill spot outside 'coz it has tables & chairs under umbrellas outside plus loud music is being played.
NOW, YOU GOTTA BELIEVE THIS:

"Super Rebonding Package"

inclusive of:

Hair Rebonding
Hair Reborn
Protein Treatment
Keratin Treatment
Power Dose
Cellophane (Permanent)
Haircut
Eyebrows Shaving
Foot Spa

And the whole process took us 8 hours!!!! hahaha!=)) But it's worth the long wait.=)

The Week Started Right!

So it was Monday....BUT who would have thought that it would end right?!?:)

My officemate who was on a different department called me up at my desk and invited me to hangout after work to try the several brands of imported beer at Distillery in Jupiter St. So I tagged along my friends to make the night even more exciting. haha!

1st stop: Dinner at Som's Noodle House. It was my first time! I loved the food and the milk tea. Hehe. In fact, I was the only one in our group who ordered extra cup of rice!:))

photo grabbed from ivee.tabulas.com

I never thought a food stall like this would be found right outside the gates of Rockwell (Kalayaan Ave. side).

The best part of the night: The Distillery!

Lots of imported beer! I was able to sip a bit from the bottles of my companions, just to give me an idea of how those beers tasted hehe. But I influenced them to order a large bottle of Absolut Mandarin Vodka. haha! Really cheap. It only cost P800. However, they don't actually serve a bottle of Sprite...only flasks of it which cost P50. haha! Yeah, looked like we're doing a Science experiment on our table haha!

I think I have to mention that we had to walk a very far distance just to withdraw from the ATM. 'coz Distillery is not yet accepting debit and credit cards.

Anyway, I am officially tagging The Distillery as my favorite chill spot now. Besides the very relaxing ambiance, it also has a very nice crowd...plus no smoking inside! yey! My favorite part, an acoustic band starts to play a few minutes before midnight. They also encourage guests to jam with them through an open mic. They play the song while you sing or you can use your Ipod 'coz they have this device that converts your Ipod music into a minus one! Now, that's an instant karaoke! hahaha!=)) Oh, and jammers get a free tequila shot after singing with the band. Cool!

But the place is kinda small so it's hard to find seats if you'll come late. Also, there's no available food there....just purely alcohol. However, their staff still assist you when you wanna order food from the Portuguese resto beside it (but only while that resto is open).
Perfect Monday night!=)

Cosmopolitan Japanese

Love Japanese food?

Then you must try John&Yoko at Greenbelt 5.

Nice interior. Looks like a chill spot. Plus the waitresses look like Cosplayers hehe.

Yummy sushi. We ordered "Rock & Roll". It had crunchy shrimps inside.

Plus Japanese fried rice and Chicken Teppan.=)

Total bill: P900! Well, kinda expensive...but worth it.

Events Unlimited

*super late blogging. sorry, i've been too busy with work. hayz...

I just love attending events, but only if I have free time. hehe

So PLDT just launched their new innovation in DSL...PLDT Watchpad. I got invited by my bestfriend who got invited by her future boss (yeah, future 'coz she's about to move work) in this sort of exclusive launch at Magnet Cafe in Bonifacio High Street last Oct. 15. We came super late 'coz of heavy traffic in Magallanes. Well, I can't try the watchpad 'coz i'm not using PLDT DSL but I think, I am willing to shift from Smartbro hehe.

Dinner at Abe in Serendra. Yummy Kapampangan food.

Then off to Ascend for the FABRIC fashion show. Congrats to Kaye, Gabbie, Camille and Nicee. I just love your dresses!=)

on taking risks...

How will you know if a risk is worth taking?

I just hate making choices, most especially if these choices involve a lot of risks.

There are some risks worth taking, while some risks are not. I have taken a lot of risks already. And I hate that the most recent risk I took only did me the worst! I lost and suffered a lot. This has been the most regretful action I have ever done in my whole life.

Now I'm much more regretful for not taking a risk, which could do me better. All my life I have been very much careful in taking risks because I don't wanna regret my actions. But now, I am very regretful for not taking this risk that had a chance to bring me the best. What's worst was, I chose another risk instead that just made me worst off.

OMG! I dunno what to do. I am really lost right now. I feel so sad and shameful that I wanna escape the people around me, as well as the reality. I wish I could turn back time.

Or...should I wish to be a different person instead?

Drink up!=)

ULTIMATELY FUN EXPERIENCE!=)

Perfect Monday night!=)

Cosmopolitan Japanese

Love Japanese food?

Then you must try John&Yoko at Greenbelt 5.

Nice interior. Looks like a chill spot. Plus the waitresses look like Cosplayers hehe.

Yummy sushi. We ordered "Rock & Roll". It had crunchy shrimps inside.

Want some iced tea? You have three colors to choose from: Red, Green, and Blue. They're actually refillable!
